In the field of fine chemicals, it can be used to produce isopropyl nitrate, isopropyl xanthate, triisopropyl phosphite, aluminum isopropoxide, as well as products for use in pharmaceuticals and pesticides. It can also be used to manufacture diisopropyl ether, isopropyl acetate, thymol, and gasoline additives. As a solvent, it is an industrially inexpensive substance with a wide range of applications; it mixes freely with water and has a stronger ability to dissolve lipophilic substances than ethanol. It can be used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, rubber, coatings, shellac, alkaloids, and more. It can be used to produce coatings, inks, extractants, aerosols, etc. It can also be used as an antifreeze, a cleaning agent, an additive in gasoline blending, a dispersant in pigment production, a fixing agent in the printing and dyeing industry, and an anti-fogging agent for glass and transparent plastics. It is used as a diluent for adhesives, as well as in antifreezes, dehydrants, etc.
