3 billion dollars! Sinopec Guangzhou Consortium wins bid for Jordanian refining project

On December 30, 2022, Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Company received a confirmation letter from the successful bidder, Jordanian **Oil Company. The company will form a consortium with the Italian company TCM and the Japanese company Itochu Corporation to provide turnkey engineering services including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning for the fourth phase of expansion and upgrading of the Zarqa refinery. The value of the contract is approximately $3 billion. According to the project construction scope, the tripartite consortium will be responsible for the construction of the plant’s production units, utility systems, and off-site facilities. Upon completion and operation of this project, the annual processing capacity of the Zarka refinery will increase from 3.2 million tons to 6 million tons, and the quality of the petroleum products will meet the requirements of European standards 5V and 6VI for emissions.
