In the case of pressure vessels, the internal pressure and temperature must always be monitored. Depending on whether the source of pressure comes from within the device itself or from outside, it is determined whether the safety relief device should be installed on the device itself or in the piping system. The equipment needs to control the liquid level, and a level gauge must also be installed.
How can a pressure vessel at normal pressure be considered to have overpressure relief?
If high pressure may occur under extreme conditions during operation, it should be taken into account during the design phase.
Manage according to the information of the registered devices. If it is to be used as a pressure vessel under normal pressure in the future, changes can be made at the special inspection agency to have the registration revoked. In this case, a relief device is not needed.
If it is a closed reactor, given the operating temperature range you specified, it cannot be at atmospheric pressure; this temperature is already equal to the standard boiling point of toluene. Moreover, the source of pressure comes from inside this reactor. Logically, the issue of whether an overpressure relief device should be installed on the unit is something that the design team takes into consideration as part of the design process. The problem is that this equipment has already been manufactured and put into use, so it’s not possible to install such a device on the unit itself; it can only be installed on the pipelines, and in that case, the design team needs to calculate the appropriate safe discharge volume.
