Under what circumstances is it required that composite head covers manufactured by full-plate pressing undergo 100% UT testing after pressing is completed? Is there any regulation specifying this?
Head covers made of titanium and nickel composite sheets must undergo 100% UT testing after molding.
Thank you. I’ve learned about it. In our case, it’s 15CrMoR+S32168, with a δ value of 24+3. The plate is quite thick, and I’m considering whether to request 100% UT testing
No regulations were found regarding whether ultrasonic testing is required again after the forming of stainless steel composite plate heads. It is possible to decide whether to add inspection requirements based on the importance of the equipment.
Looking at the material, there shouldn’t be such a requirement in the standards. However, it’s definitely better to do it in order to check the adhesion of the composite layer
