Yes, but it requires the approval of the original design team.
According to the specifications, if RT is indicated on the drawing, approval from the designer is required. In current standards, UT holds a status roughly equivalent to that of RT; however, UT has a lower ability to detect surface and near-surface defects, so it needs to be supplemented by MT or PT
1. If the design has been specified as RT, design modification procedures must be followed, and written consent from the original design unit is required before implementation. 2. For ultrasonic testing, there is a requirement regarding minimum thickness. 3. It must be recordable ultrasound or TOFD.
