What are the differences between a pressure relief port and a safety valve port?
The pressure relief port is not necessarily the safety valve port
Safety valve: A spring-actuated pressure relief device driven by the static pressure in front of the valve; when that static pressure is reached, the valve opens rapidly to its maximum degree to discharge as much excess fluid as possible, and it is used for compressible fluids. Pressure relief valve: A spring-actuated pressure relief device driven by the static pressure in front of the valve; its opening degree is proportional to the increase in pressure beyond the set pressure, and it is used for incompressible fluids.
Official term: safety valve; unofficial term: pressure relief valve
Pressure relief valve: Generally, a valve plus a blind flange are installed; it is used only during startup and shutdown, and is often designed with an open end； Safety valve outlet: Used for installing safety valves (sets), and is usually sealed.
A pressure relief valve is used for manual pressure release, while a safety valve operates automatically for pressure release – is that correct?
