Seeking a feasible solution: There is suspicion of a minor leak in the steam heat exchanger, and the combustible gas alarm located on top of the condensate water collection tank keeps triggering alarms. The specific operating conditions are as follows: all the suspect heat exchangers in the unit use steam at 0.35 MPa to heat liquid hydrocarbons (the pressure of these liquid hydrocarbons ranges from approximately 1.7 MPa to 5.5 MPa). Since no exact leak location has been identified, and the unit is not currently in a position to be shut down, there is an urgent need for a viable method to locate the leak. So far, testing has been carried out by discharging the returned condensate directly on-site using portable detectors, with no alarms detected

Can’t it be seen from the fluctuations in the operating pressure on the steam side? If there is a leak, the operating pressure on the low-pressure side will change, right?
There is slight leakage; the pressure hasn’t changed at all. Currently, there is only a minor alarm due to discharge from the top of the condensate water collection tank. Moreover, the steam pressure is only monitored on the bus, with no monitoring for individual users
