A side-bending flat-top chain is, in other words, a flat-top chain that is capable of turning. Because the gap between the links of a regular straight-top chain is limited, the chain can only move in a straight line and cannot turn. However, in practical engineering applications, the space available in workshops is often limited; if a straight-shaped conveyor belt is used, it is not possible to meet the requirements, and therefore L-shaped, U-shaped, or rectangular conveyor belts are usually required. In such cases, if a regular straight flat-top chain is used, adjustments have to be made at the turning points, which complicates things. But by using a flat-top chain that can turn, things can be simplified – and this is how the angled flat-top chain came into being. 1. Features of the bent flat-top chain structure: The bent flat-top chain evolved from the straight flat-top chain; it involves only minor structural changes to the latter – specifically, gaps are added between the hinges. These gaps allow for a certain degree of bending between adjacent chain links, and the accumulation of such bending angles between consecutive links results in a greater overall degree of curvature. Furthermore, designing the hinge pin as drum-shaped can also achieve a turning effect. In a straight flat-top chain, where the links have parallel sides in the forward direction, when the chain bends sideways, the side plates of adjacent links come into contact with each other; as a result, it can only move in a straight line. If one of the side plates of the chain plate is changed to a symmetrical diagonal edge, the aforementioned interference can be eliminated, allowing the chain to bend sideways. The inclined perspective of the hypotenuse and the gap at the hinge work together to determine the size of the bending radius. When a anti-slip flat-top chain is used for operation on curves, the pulling force of the chain ahead generates a radial force that causes the chain to move inward at the turning point. To restrict such movement, a anti-shift plate needs to be installed beneath the chain plate on the inner side of the turning section; this anti-shift plate presses directly against the hinge of the chain plate to prevent its radial movement. 2. The use of side-bent flat-top chains has the following advantages. Employing such chains on conveyor belts offers the following benefits: a) it eliminates the need for special structural elements used when the conveyor belt turns or changes direction ; b. During transportation, the items being transported rarely flip or jump, and the noise level is also low ; c. Sliding of the items being transported is eliminated at turns ; d. It reduces the number of driving components such as motors, reducers, and sprockets. 3. Standards for flat-top chains: Flat-top chains are widely used in various automated production lines and manual assembly lines, and they are designed and manufactured in accordance with certain standards. In China, the standard \"Flat-top chains and sprockets for conveying purposes\" was established in 1993, with the standard number GB/T 4140-93. The specifications detail the chain number, structural type, symbol system, basic parameters, dimensions, and sprockets; manufacturers generally design and produce products in accordance with these standards, and we can refer to the specific details of these standards when using them.
