Flexible conveyor accessories toothed chain is an important mechanical basic component that is widely used. It is mainly used under high-speed, heavy-load, low-noise, and large center distance working conditions. Its transmission performance is better than toothed belt transmission, gear transmission, and roller chain transmission. Therefore, the gears of the toothed chain play an important role. However, if the gears of the toothed chain fail, it will affect its working efficiency. So let's first understand what are the forms of toothed chain gear failure? 1. Tooth-shaped chain tooth surface wear: For open gear transmission or closed gear transmission containing unclean lubricating oil, due to the relative sliding between the meshing tooth surfaces, some harder abrasive particles enter the friction surface, thereby changing the tooth profile and increasing the backlash, so that excessive thinning of the gear leads to tooth breakage. Under normal circumstances, only when abrasive particles are included in the lubricating oil, tooth surface abrasive wear will be caused during operation. 2. Tooth-shaped sprocket tooth surface gluing: For high-speed and heavy-load gear transmission, due to the large friction between the tooth surfaces and the high relative speed, the temperature of the meshing area is too high. Once the lubrication conditions are poor, the oil film between the tooth surfaces will disappear, causing the metal surfaces of the two gear teeth to be in direct contact, resulting in mutual adhesion. When the two tooth surfaces continue to move relative to each other, the harder tooth surface tears off part of the material on the softer tooth surface along the sliding direction to form grooves. 3. Fatigue pitting corrosion of toothed chain: When the two meshing gear teeth of the flexible conveying accessories come into contact, the action force and reaction force between the tooth surfaces cause contact stress on the two working surfaces. Since the position of the meshing point changes and the gears make periodic movements, the contact stress changes according to the pulsating cycle. When the tooth surface is under the action of this alternating contact stress for a long time, small cracks will appear at the knife marks on the tooth surface. As time goes by, this crack gradually expands laterally on the surface layer. After the crack forms an annular shape, the surface of the gear tooth will peel off in a small area and form some fatigue shallow pits. 4. Broken toothed sprocket teeth: Gears that bear loads during operation are like cantilever beams. When the root of the gear is subjected to pulsed periodic stress that exceeds the fatigue limit of the gear material, cracks will occur at the root and gradually expand. When the remaining part cannot bear the transmission load, tooth fracture will occur. Gear teeth may also be broken due to severe impact, eccentric load and uneven material during operation. 5. Plastic deformation of tooth surface of tooth-shaped sprocket: Under impact load or heavy load, the tooth surface is prone to local plastic deformation, which deforms the curved surface of the involute tooth profile. All of the above reasons will lead to toothed chain gear failure.
