Why is titanium highly corrosive in certain methanol solutions? What is the principle behind this? Is there anything special about methanol?

In my opinion, there may be three reasons for the stress corrosion problem of titanium alloys in methanol-chloride: 1) the influence of impurity elements in the titanium alloy, 2) electrochemical corrosion, and 3) hydrogen embrittlement.
