Why isn’t fireproof coating applied to the entire chemical plant utility tunnel? Only some of the load-bearing columns are coated
Regarding the use of fire-retardant coatings, they are primarily applied to the load-bearing parts of steel beams and columns; their function is to delay the loss of strength and the rate of deformation of these load-bearing steel elements in the event of a fire, thereby protecting the equipment located above them. Therefore, fire-resistant coatings must be applied to pillars and load-bearing steel beams. It is incorrect not to apply fireproof coating.
Chemical plants generally follow the requirements of Section 5.6 of GB 50160; normally, this is only required for heights below 10 meters.
