Easy installation of Win10 version 7.2. I tried many times on Win10 before, and even used a virtual machine with Win7 to do it. It’s so troublesome. I also tried installing 8.8, and found that many modules couldn’t be used. The installation of 7.2 succeeded this time; it was mainly because I read somewhere that Aspen 7.2 doesn’t necessarily require SQL Express 2005 – versions 2008 will also work, as long as they are 32-bit versions. Sure enough. The first time, when 64-bit SQL Express 2008 R2 was used, it couldn’t be detected; the second time, using the x86 version, the installation was successful right away. Personally, I think version 7.2 is better than the later versions; it has an intuitive interface, and most importantly, all its modules work properly. Let’s explain the differences between the various versions of SQL Server Express. Everyone, make sure not to install it incorrectly. SQLEXPR_x86_CHS (x86 indicates that it can be used on 32-bit operating systems as well as 64-bit ones; CHS denotes the Simplified Chinese version). SQLEXPR_x64_CHS (x64 means it can only be used on 64-bit operating systems). SQLEXPR32_x86_CHS (32_x86 indicates it can only be used on 32-bit operating systems; although this version is 32-bit, my computer has a 64-bit operating system, so I chose the first option). I highly recommend the combination of 7.2 (plus HYSYS) + SQL Express 2008 R2. Such a setup is excellent. A green light is provided for installation, with all modules available. I installed Windows 8.8 on my Win10 a few days ago; I also tried SQL Server 2005 (it wouldn’t run due to compatibility issues), as well as versions such as 2008 and 2012. Eventually, I used the built-in \"Add or Remove Programs\" tool to uninstall them and then reinstalled 7.2 along with SQL 2008. The system was not reinstalled with formatting. 8.8, 9 – those new versions look more flashy, but they’re not very useful. Chemical products are not like mobile phones; there’s no need to replace them every couple of years. Apart from some new data in the database, I’m afraid the calculation method remains the same. :lol
The version doesn’t matter whether it’s high or low; as long as it’s sufficient and can be used effectively, that’s enough. Otherwise, one just has to download and install it.
With Win10 Professional + SQL2008R2 + Aspen 7.2, I encountered issues where SQL operations failed and the Aspen database could not be activated. I upgraded Win10 from Home Edition to Professional Edition, used SQL2008 in x86 version, right-clicked on it to run it in administrator mode, and followed the installation instructions for version 7.2 – success was achieved
The original poster has completed the installation successfully. Is Win10 Home edition or Professional edition?
My current system is Windows 10 64-bit; SQL 2008 can be installed, but the.NET software cannot be installed. Windows 10 has already been automatically updated to the latest version 4.7
