Method of creating irregular plates in PDMS by importing AutoCAD drawings

For regular panels, modeling can be easily done in PDMS, but for some irregularly shaped plates (elbows, hatches, etc.), accurate modeling requires considerable time. Compared to PDMS, it is easy to draw plane figures of various shapes in AutoCAD. Therefore, the modeling of irregular plates can be accomplished by importing drawings from AutoCAD into PDMS. This can be achieved by writing a plugin using the .net interface provided by PDMS; by clicking a button, the user can switch to the AutoCAD interface, select the closed polyline shapes that have been created using the mouse, process the imported graphic data in the background, and finally use the objects (GMFARC and PROFILE) provided by PML to convert the CAD data into model data suitable for the PDMS platform. The import is completed based on information such as the plate thickness entered by the user.
