I encountered such a problem while simulating the furfural extraction tower. In the component definition, I defined the oil as ASSAY, and then entered data such as boiling range and density; furfural is a pure component (Conventional). In the settings for the extract tower, there is an option called KEY COMPONENTS, where it is necessary to define the 1st liquid and the 2nd liquid, but among the options only the furfural component is listed, with no entry for oil. What should I do to have two components (furfural and oil) appear in the options? Please give some advice, thank you!

It’s an extraction tower; an extraction column will work as well. In ASPEN, I chose extract.
If it is an extraction module, it is indeed necessary to set the main components for each of the two phases, and this situation is quite challenging. Since you have already processed it using distillation fractions, using extraction is not appropriate.

How to define it? There are light components and heavy components, for example from C11-C20; should we select one of these components? How much deviation would there be if that were the case.
