When using the HaoChen CAD software to create CAD drawings, the pattern filling function is one of the commonly used tools by CAD designers for drawing various types of CAD drawings. In Haochen CAD software, the parameter settings for the CAD hatching function are actually quite extensive. Next, I’ll introduce some practical CAD hatch settings that many people may not be familiar with, as a way to fill in any knowledge gaps. In the HaoChen CAD software, we can execute the h or bh command to bring up the pattern filling and gradient color dialog box. The Hatching tab includes three sections: \"Type and Pattern\", \"Angle and Scale\", and \"Hatching Origin\"; we will provide a detailed explanation of these in the following. 1. Types and Patterns A. Predefined types: Fill patterns built into the software. User-defined: Used to create linear patterns based on the current line style; it is possible to use the current line style to define angles and proportions in order to create one’s own fill patterns. Customization: We can download a wider variety of patterns from the Internet and copy them into the support folder located in the HaoChen CAD installation path. If it is placed in another folder, you need to add that path to the supported file search paths in the File tab of the op dialog box. After adding the custom hatch pattern, we can see the customized pattern in the hatch palette. B. Color: The color options are divided into two parts; the dropdown menu at the front refers to the color of the fill pattern, while the dropdown menu at the back refers to the color of the background behind the fill – the latter is often overlooked by people. For example, as shown in the figure below: the pattern fill is red, and the background fill color is yellow. C. Example: Through the example options, we can preview the effect of the filled pattern. 2. Angle and proportion: The angle refers to the rotation angle of the pattern. The ratio refers to the density of the pattern; it is essential to choose an appropriate filling ratio in order to achieve a good visual effect. (The visual effects at different fill ratios) Two-way is used for “user-defined” patterns, while the “Relative to paper space” checkbox determines whether the “scale prefix” should be set based on the paper space scale; it is applicable only to layouts. 3. Boundary A. This button becomes available only after the filled boundary defined in the CAD graphic has been deleted. Click this button and select some of the boundary objects; those objects will no longer serve as filling boundaries. This command can trim fill patterns without the need to recreate them. It should be noted that in HaoChen CAD, the tr command can directly trim filled patterns. B. Recreate boundary: For patterns whose boundaries have been deleted, this command will regenerate the filling boundary as a polyline. C. In older versions of CAD, when a boundary object is selected, the fill pattern does not have boundary grips. Higher versions of HaoChen CAD include boundary grips, allowing users to directly drag these grips with the mouse to change the boundaries of the fill pattern. 4. Pattern filling origin: This area is used to control the initial position of the filling pattern. Some patterns similar to bricks need to be arranged in a row starting from a point on the boundary, and sometimes their initial position needs to be adjusted. Using the current origin means that the origin of all patterns coincides with the current UCS coordinate system. The filling results are shown in the figure below. Of course, we can also specify the filling origin arbitrarily, or use the top-left, bottom-left, top-right, bottom-right corners of the filling rectangle range, or its center as the origin for filling. 5. Option A: Check this box. When using the edit commands to modify the boundaries, the hatch pattern will automatically fill the new boundaries as they change; therefore, it is recommended to keep this box checked at all times. B. Inheritance feature: When using existing fill patterns from the diagram for new fills, this function can be used to quickly copy the existing fill styles and apply them swiftly.
