Recently, I designed the reboiler in ASPEN PLUS using EDR; when I switched to it, an error occurred that was severe enough to prevent any results from being generated. Running it without making any changes didn’t work either. Is it because phase changes inevitably cause errors in EDR? It seems like the heat load is incorrect; is it that unintelligent?
When designing a reboiler as an EDR in ASPEN PLUS, runtime errors may occur because the EDR is unable to handle phase change issues. EDR is a thermodynamic software tool used to analyze and optimize energy systems. It is typically used to handle steady-state thermodynamic problems and is not suitable for phase transition processes. The phase change process involves changes in the state of a substance, such as the transformation between liquid and gas. This will introduce more complex thermodynamic calculations, including parameters such as vapor pressure, boiling point, and freezing point. EDR may not have models for phase transition processes, and therefore cannot properly handle the issues of energy transfer and mass balance during phase transitions. If you need to handle phase transition processes, it is recommended to use software designed specifically for such tasks or to perform the calculations manually. Additionally, please ensure that when using EDR, parameters such as the heat load entered are correct, and that you comply with the software’s usage rules and limitations. Generally speaking, software tools have their specific areas of application and applicable conditions; for complex or special processes, other methods and tools may be required for analysis and design. .
