CalPiping, a software for calculating pressure pipe fittings, was developed in 2008 by the National Chemical Equipment Design and Technology Center in order to ensure that the design and calculation processes for pressure pipes comply with relevant standards, improve design efficiency, and enhance the safety and cost-effectiveness of pressure pipe designs in China. This software utilizes the design and calculation methods specified in China’s standards and codes for pressure pipeline design to assist pipeline design engineers in carrying out pressure calculations for pressure-bearing fittings. It generates pipe grade tables and fitting data lists that conform to engineering practices, as requested by the users, thereby ensuring the accuracy of the design calculations, improving work efficiency, and allowing designers to devote more time to optimizing structures and selecting appropriate solutions. With the issuance and implementation of a series of latest design standards and specifications for pressure pipelines, such as TSG 31-2025 \"Technical Code for Safety of Industrial Pipelines\" and the latest version of GB/T 20801.1-2025 \"Code for Pressure Piping – Part 1: Industrial Pipelines\", our station has upgraded the CalPiping software. While ensuring accurate and fast calculation results, this software offers users an intuitive, convenient, and flexible operation method that is in line with Windows conventions. Function Overview: 1. Based on the most commonly used pipe fitting types in engineering design, and in accordance with the calculation methods specified in domestic standards and codes for pressure pipeline design, the software is capable of performing design calculations for the following pipe fittings: pipes, elbows, diagonal elbows, flanges and flange covers, reducers, end caps, as well as reinforcement for openings in welded branch connections and for extruded joints. 2. This software has established a database of data on the structural parameters of pipe fittings and their material properties in accordance with current standards and specifications. When material property data and the geometric dimensions of relevant pipe fittings are required for design calculations, the software will automatically retrieve them. When encountering materials and geometric dimensions not included in the standard database, users can create them using this software; during program operation, they will be treated in the same way as the materials in the standard material database. 3. This software allows users to perform batch calculations for various pipe fittings, and simultaneously generate batch reports for these calculations. 4. In addition to being displayed on the screen, the calculation results can also be printed out. It is created by printing directly from the screen output, without generating a modifiable file. The calculation sheet is formatted in accordance with the commonly used pipe fitting grade table in engineering, and the calculation results for all pipe fittings include the calculated thickness and verification results.
