Trial Operation of the First Phase of Tianhua Company’s Natural Gas Pressure Difference Power Generation Project Author/Source: Tianhua Date: 2021-12-31 Clicks: 22 On December 29, the trial operation of the first phase of this green energy demonstration project – the natural gas pressure difference power generation project – was carried out in collaboration with Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company. The project generates electricity by utilizing the pressure difference of natural gas; it can produce nearly 1.8 million kWh of electricity per year, saving almost 600 tons of standard coal annually, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 1,600 tons. Natural gas carries significant pressure energy during transportation, and a pressure reducing valve must be installed to lower the pressure once it reaches the chemical production area. In the past, due to immature technology, natural gas pressure could not be utilized effectively. At present, the technology for generating electricity using dual-rotor expanders is already mature. The company has partnered with the Southwest Oil and Gas Field and Foshan Xuantong Technology Co., Ltd., drawing on the operational experience of similar systems both domestically and internationally, to use pressure difference generators in place of pressure reducing valves, thereby enabling effective utilization of natural gas pressure. It is reported that the company, together with the Southwest Oil and Gas Field and Xuantong Company, has also collaborated on the construction of the Phase II pressure difference power generation project in the large fertilizer plant area. Once all the installations are in operation, they can reduce carbon emissions by 4,600 tons per year.
