There is a significant difference between the allowable stress values for grade 20 seamless carbon steel at different temperatures as specified in GB 50316-2000 Code for Design of Industrial Metal Piping and GBT20801.1-2020 Code for Pressure Piping – which parameters should be chosen?
The two standards differ by 20 years; with advancements in technology, it’s normal for the data to be different. Personally, I think using any of them won’t be a mistake

It’s sufficient to identify one as the basis for design. Both of these can serve as design specifications, with different design requirements; the calculations for various pipe grades also vary, and there are differences in the regulations regarding expansion joints, insulation, pipe supports, and application scenarios. Consequently, the allowable stresses and tolerances for the same type of pipe also differ. .
