Total investment of 309.6 million yuan! A new coking project in Shanxi has been approved. Recently, the Department of Ecology and Environment of Shanxi Province issued its approval for the environmental impact assessment report related to the project aimed at the comprehensive utilization of carbon black raw materials and energy by Shanxi Sanqiang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. The carbon black raw materials and energy recycling comprehensive utilization project of Shanxi Sanqiang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is located in the Qingxu Economic Development Zone of Taiyuan. The project is constructed in two phases: the first phase involves building production facilities for 4,500 tons per year of refined anthracene, 2,000 tons per year of carbazole, and 90,000 tons per year of special asphalt ； Phase II involves the construction of a 50,000 tons per year anhydride production facility along with related facilities and equipment. The construction scope includes the main projects such as the p-phenylenecarbazole production facility, special asphalt production facility, molten salt furnace heating system, and phthalic anhydride production facility, as well as storage and transportation systems, auxiliary facilities, and environmental protection systems. The total investment for the project is 309.6 million yuan, of which 28.7 million yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures. Shanxi Sanqiang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (formerly Shanxi Sanqiang Carbon Black Factory) is a high-tech, modern private enterprise dedicated to the production of carbon black for use in rubber. It was established in 2000 and covers an area of 1,000 mu. The company has built a 300,000-ton tar processing facility, which supplies high-quality oil for the production of carbon black used in the company’s carbon black manufacturing processes ； 7 new production units for wet-process carbon black have been built, with an annual production capacity of 250,000 tons ； A 24-megawatt carbon black exhaust gas generator set was built, equipped with desulfurization and denitrification systems, thus creating a unique circular economy system aimed at energy savings and reduced consumption. In order to increase the value of the primary products derived from coal tar – carbon black oil, anthracene oil, and industrial naphthalene – and to make full use of raw material resources by exploiting them to the fullest extent, Sanqiang Company plans to carry out further processing on the raw materials used in its existing carbon black production facilities, namely carbon black oil and anthracene oil. This involves first extracting special asphalts, pure anthracene, and carbazole from these raw materials, and then feeding the carbon black oil and anthracene oil after such extraction into the company’s carbon black production lines as raw materials for carbon black production ； At the same time, the primary product of tar processing, industrial naphthalene, is converted into phthalic anhydride, and the heat energy generated during the production of phthalic anhydride is used to extract pure anthracene and carbazole. This not only increases the added value of carbon black oil, anthracene oil, and industrial naphthalene but also makes effective use of the heat energy produced as a by-product of phthalic anhydride production, thereby improving the efficiency of resource and energy utilization. Based on this, Sanqiang Company plans to invest in the construction of a project for the comprehensive recycling and utilization of carbon black raw materials and energy, in order to establish vertical and horizontal connections and create a more sophisticated and comprehensive sustainable circular economy industry chain.
