The older generation of builders gathered with the new generation of petrochemical industry professionals to revisit the journey of entrepreneurship, pass on the spirit of perseverance, look back on seven decades of glory, and look forward to a new journey of high-quality development. On April 29, 1956, as one of the 156 key projects during the First Five-Year Plan period, Lanzhou Petrochemical began construction on the banks of the Yellow River. Tens of thousands of builders gathered from all directions to embark on the journey of establishing the petrochemical industry in New China. For 70 years, Lanzhou Petrochemical has always taken **needs as its mission, and through hard work and a sense of responsibility, it has demonstrated the loyalty of the \"eldest son of the Republic\". Seventy years of trials and tribulations, with abundant fruits on the branches. Lanzhou Petrochemical has processed a total of 418 million tons of crude oil and produced 19.354 million tons of ethylene. It was the site where China’s first batch of oil, the first batch of synthetic rubber, and the first batch of ethylene were produced – all significant achievements. The company has set 109 records in the field of refining and petrochemicals in China, and numerous technologies developed there have broken foreign monopolies, playing a key role in the development of China’s national refining industry. Rooted in the new era, this “established” company continues to exhibit new vitality. In recent years, companies have invested nearly 7 billion yuan to develop 185 projects aimed at transformation and upgrading; as a result, their production capacity for nitrile rubber ranks second in the world and first in Asia. They also hold more than 70% of the domestic market share in raw materials for medical infusion bottles. Investment in research and development has increased significantly, with continuous breakthroughs in technologies owned through independent innovation; the key process technologies in the refining and chemical industry have reached a leading level in China. Meanwhile, Lanzhou Petrochemical is firmly advancing its transformation toward green and low-carbon development as well as digitalization, and has completed a number of environmental improvement projects. “Standing at a new starting point for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Lanzhou Petrochemical has set the goal of \"rebuilding Lanzhou Petrochemical and achieving new heights for the enterprise.\" It is making every effort to advance the transformation project related to the production of one million tons of ethylene, to develop a base for chemical new materials, and to explore new areas of growth such as biochemistry.
