Regarding sleeve compensators

Dear sea friends, I have a question. When installing compensators in steam pipelines, various online sources suggest installing one every 40–50 meters. I have a sample of a sleeve compensator; for DN500, its compensation capacity is 400 mm. Even if a compensator is installed every 80 meters, it will only be used for less than 200 mm of compensation – is this considered wasteful? Are there any other regulatory requirements? I hope the experts here can give some advice. Thank you.

There’s no waste without waves, right? As long as the safety of the pipes is ensured, that’s enough. The amount of compensation is determined by the design institute, and the manufacturer then produces it based on certain technical parameters.
