I have been working in the oil and gas industry for many years, and I often visit this forum as well; the forum administrator does a good job. Although storage and transportation, as well as long-distance pipelines, do not constitute a major part of the chemical industry, even small systems still require complete functionality – there must always be someone to carry out the necessary tasks. I’d like to say a few words about the SPS software (Synergi Pipeline Simulator). To be honest, in terms of pipeline network simulation, domestic software has always found it difficult to reach the international commercial standards; there is indeed a gap compared to commercially available software from other countries. Advanced tools like SPS are worth continuous study. Over the past few years I’ve learned a lot, and this year I came up with the idea of creating video tutorials on SPS. My skills are limited, but they still reflect my experience from years of using this software. Let’s first introduce the SPS software. Initially, SPS was a product of the American company Stoner, which was founded in the 1970s. In 2001, the British company National Grid acquired Stoner and established Advantica. Later, in 2007, the German company GL Industrial Services purchased Advantica and converted all SPS products into products of the GL company. Later on, around 2010 or so, DNV (Norwegian Classification Society) and GL merged, and currently SPS is a product of DNV GL. Used for transient simulation of flow in oil and gas pipelines. In fact, there aren’t many basic tutorials on SPS available online, and there are very few presentations in the form of new media (almost none at all). Users mostly use it intermittently, and those who come later often have to incur high learning costs. Due to the short-sighted mentality in the country, users often give up after using it for a while. Although SPS is widely used, its learning cost is indeed high due to the lengthy documentation, which keeps growing as new versions are released. Given this situation, Culbertson himself decided to create several SPS micro-course videos in his spare time, drawing on his many years of experience in using these tools as well as his project implementation experience, along with knowledge acquired from foreign resources such as YouTube and various books. Create several teaching videos on SPS in the context of new media; currently, it is planned to conduct SPS instruction on Litchi Micro-lessons (Litchi Micro-lessons). The content is currently planned to be introduced at the following four levels. Materials for introductory courses and PPTs, as well as materials for advanced course creation.
