Dear experts and forum members, I have a question: What is the basis for calculating the wall thickness of buried pipes for water supply, drainage, and fire protection systems? Is it an industrial pipeline formula? Are they still the calculation formulas for long-distance pipeline oil pipelines? Should it be the formula from the water supply and drainage engineering manual? We have a factory project in Xinjiang, buried 2.2 meters deep. For the DN300 and DN400 pipes, wall thicknesses of 8mm and 9mm were respectively selected; however, the relevant personnel at the company said that these thicknesses are too large and should be reduced. I couldn’t find a reasonable basis for calculation; I referred to the CPE standards as well as some project grade tables from the Eighth Research Institute and Sinopec, and they also chose a wall thickness that was roughly the same. How do you choose the wall thickness for pipes such as buried fire protection and circulating water pipes? ? ?
There are no specific requirements regarding wall thickness for pipes installed underground; the requirements mainly stem from the processing requirements themselves, such as pressure, medium, corrosion margin, and so on.

The \"Petroleum and Chemical Industry Pressure Pipeline Design Manual\" also includes these calculation formulas for process design; in addition, factors such as corrosion allowance must be taken into account.
