The attached diagram shows a spray tank container (with a design pressure of 6 kilograms). There are 3 layers of nozzles along the axial direction of the inner cylinder of the tank (3 nozzles per layer, with a height interval of 300 units). Manholes are provided for easy maintenance and replacement of the internal nozzles. The manhole located on the lower cover is fixed in position (due to other internal structures), allowing only access to the nozzles at that lower level. To service the nozzles on the upper layer, an additional elliptical manhole has been added (the nozzles are arranged circumferentially, and the elliptical opening facilitates maintenance); however, it is not clear whether such an elliptical manhole can be properly positioned in this way. Moreover, an elliptical manhole can only be designed to open upward or downward, neither of which is ideal – opening downward would interfere with the lower manhole, while an upward-opening manhole cannot be fixed properly. Since there are other containers beside the tank, it is desired to place manholes only on this side (a top-mounted manhole is also not feasible due to its high location). I seek advice from experts on how to resolve this issue; alternative methods for providing maintenance access to the containers would be appreciated, preferably those based on established standards and guidelines. Use a quick-opening manhole with a swivel cover to solve this problem. The pressure manhole grade can be selected as required.
Thank you for your reply. Are you referring to those quick-opening manholes that open horizontally, in a circular shape? Are such manholes mainly used on the top of containers? Is it sufficient in terms of strength to use them on the sides for frequent maintenance of hinges? I’m also considering using elliptical or kidney-shaped manholes; it’s not necessary that they be quick-opening
Can pressure vessels be equipped with non-standard elliptical manholes? How to calculate it?
