Pump cooling water recovery issue in the pump pit

Pumps installed in the pump pit require cooling water from the equipment for cooling; how is the cooled water recovered within the pump pit?
My understanding is limited; it would be better if more details were provided. It would also be helpful to include a simple diagram, as visual aids make things clearer. For reference.
The cooling water is designed as a closed recycling system; if it’s not discharged on-site, then it can be recycled, right?
