On December 25, the intermediate handover ceremony for the Tianjin Scientific Testing Base project of Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Chemistry Co., Ltd. along with the ceremony marking the successful production of its first products was held in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, signaling the official completion of the construction of the Sinopec Research Institute’s Tianjin base. The successful completion of this project by CCCC and Shouchan marks a significant advancement in the project’s development: the core equipment is now ready for handover and operation, and the process technology has been validated through engineering applications, thereby achieving an important breakthrough from independent research and development to industrial-scale implementation. The release of the first batch of products carries the dual hopes for technological innovation and industrial development. In the future, the base will enter a new phase characterized by the simultaneous advancement of construction, production, and research. Taking this cooperation as a new starting point, the Institute of Rock Mechanics will strive to become a hub for original technologies, accelerate technology transfer and system development, integrate into the broader context of regional development, and contribute to advancing industry upgrading and the high-quality growth of the local economy. As one of the key projects in the high-end new materials cluster in the Sinopec Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone, the Tianjin base serves as a crucial platform for the Shihua Research Institute to achieve coordinated development across its multiple locations, enhance its independent innovation capabilities, and work on advancing core technologies. It features five research and pilot production platforms for low-carbon oil refining, resource recycling, new materials, high-end chemicals, hydrogen energy, and electrochemistry, as well as pilot production facilities for special lubricants and petroleum products. This base functions as an important platform for integrated technological innovation and collaborative research within the Shihua Research Institute, as well as a site for the development and production of special petroleum products and high-end chemicals.
