Why is it considered magical? Because it can bring a liquid to instant boiling and vaporization without any heating equipment (no fire, no heating coils). It makes use of the principles of \"latent heat conversion to sensible heat\" and \"bubble point pressure\" that we discussed earlier. 01 Core mechanism: \"The magic of pressure\" Imagine shaking a bottle of Coke vigorously and then suddenly unscrewing the lid – with a \"pop\", a large amount of gas along with the liquid bursts out. This is the “flash evaporation” in daily life. In industry, the flash evaporation process works as follows: Energy storage: We have a high-temperature, high-pressure liquid (such as pressurized water at 150°C). At this point, it remains in a liquid state because the pressure is higher than its saturated vapor pressure. This liquid stores a large amount of sensible heat. Sudden pressure release: The liquid flows through a throttling valve into the flasher. The throttle valve causes the pressure to drop suddenly. Self-boiling: As pressure decreases, the boiling point (bubble point) of the liquid also decreases. At this point, the original temperature of the liquid (150°C) is much higher than its boiling point under the new pressure (for example, 100°C). Sensible heat to latent heat: The liquid “realizes” it’s too hot and needs to cool down. Its only way to cool down is by sacrificing some of the liquid and turning it into gas. As a result, bubbles form explosively within the liquid, using their own sensible heat to provide the latent heat required for vaporization. Final equilibrium: The mixture separates rapidly, with the gas rising upward and the cooled liquid falling downward. In one sentence: Flash evaporation involves using a sudden drop in pressure to force the liquid to \"commit suicide\" by vaporizing part of itself, thereby cooling and stabilizing the remaining liquid. 02 Internal Structure Analysis: The structure of a flash evaporator is usually quite simple, consisting mostly of a vertical cylinder. Inlet nozzle: Usually enters tangentially, using centrifugal force to assist in the initial gas-liquid separation. Vaporization zone: The most chaotic area at the inlet, where the liquid expands violently and breaks apart into a gas-liquid mixture. Mesh demister (Demister Pad): located at the top. The rising steam may carry tiny liquid droplets, and this metal mesh is responsible for trapping those droplets and sending them back to the bottom, ensuring that the gas exiting is dry. Vortex Breaker: Located at the bottom liquid outlet, it prevents vortices from forming as the liquid flows out, which could otherwise pull the gas along with it.
