Hello everyone. The problem I’m facing right now is that the distributor at the styrene feed inlet often gets clogged. Are Sulzer’s distributors any better?
Due to the double bond present in styrene, and possibly because the feed temperature is high, a polymerization reaction can occur, which will lead to blockages over time. When performing distillation separation of compounds containing double bonds, we usually add a polymerization inhibitor.
Then you still need to choose an inhibitor.
Reply to 2# wss20011: We are also adding an anti-polymerization agent, I-95 (2,6-***4-**phenol). Since 99.5% of the feed consists of styrene, if the feeding temperature is controlled too low, the styrene concentration at the bottom of the tower will increase, resulting in waste of styrene.
Add a good amount of inhibitor! ! Don’t always use the cheap ones! !
