Exploration of DCS Studies*

I have learned about Honeywell PKS, Triconex, Siemens PCS7, and Siemens PLC300, but at a certain point I always reach a bottleneck and don’t know how to proceed with my learning. My actual skill level is still quite low. I hope experienced professionals can share their paths to learning, and advise me on how to learn DCS. Thank you
There is still a gap between theory and practice. You can find the basic design documents for a small project and then independently carry out tasks such as hardware configuration, control setup, and drawing of flowcharts for the entire project.
It’s difficult to reach a professional level if you’re not an integrator; if you can recognize your shortcomings, keep working hard step by step!
Think more, practice more, communicate, and get hands-on.
It depends on how much enthusiasm you put into it. Do you decide to become a technical specialist for the manufacturer in the future, or do you just want to gain knowledge? You also need a good supervisor who will give you the opportunity to work on projects and send you for training; after the training, you return to carry out the work yourself, waiting for the manufacturer to conduct an inspection. That’s how I got here.

Just work on a project independently from start to finish and that’s it.

Practice brings stability! Be eager to learn, but don’t stay at the theoretical level. Strive to get opportunities for practice; sincerity will touch most people–as long as you are humble and eager to learn, the manufacturers’ technical staff will teach you as well.
There are commonalities between systems. Besides learning the basic operations, it is necessary to work on projects in order to make greater progress. If one is able to design the system architecture, add hardware, incorporate simple circuits as well as complex ones, add custom programs, include various communication devices, and carry out debugging of the field devices, then basically everything is taken care of.
