The working principle of a bimetallic thermometer relies on two metals with different coefficients of thermal expansion; one end of this device is welded to a fixed point, while the other end bends and deforms as the temperature changes, which in turn converts this deformation into an angle of deflection of the pointer, thereby indicating the temperature. The core-extracting type refers to a type in which the bimetallic temperature sensing element can be extracted from the outer protective tube for replacement; it is a widely used field-mounted temperature indicator. Based on the direction of connection between the pointer disk of the bimetallic thermometer and the protective tube, bimetallic thermometers can be divided into four types: axial type, radial type, 135° type, and universal type. 1. Radial bimetallic thermometer: the dial is connected parallel to the protective tube ; 2. 135° angled bimetallic thermometer: the dial is connected to the protective tube at an angle of 135° ; 3. Universal bimetallic thermometer: The angle between the dial and the protective tube can be adjusted arbitrarily ; 4. Axial bimetallic thermometer: The dial is connected perpendicularly to the protective tube. They are all quite simple – basic knowledge about dual-metal thermometers for beginners.
