Should the fire alarm signal be fed into the SIS system? Are there any regulatory requirements?
The fire alarm signal does not go to the SIS system; it goes to the fire alarm system (i.e., the fire protection system).
The fire protection systems are all controlled by PLCs; there’s no one on site at all, so I directly fed the signals into the DCS
Fire alarm signals that need to be connected to the fire control system should be independent of the SIS and DCS.
The two are relatively independent systems, right? If a fire signal is to be sent to the DCS, only a digital signal can be transmitted; it’s not possible to indicate exactly which location has triggered a fire alarm. So, integrating it into the DCS isn’t very useful
The fire alarm signals cannot be fed into the SIS system; this is a requirement. Nor are they sent to the Fire and Gas System (FCS), but rather to the fire protection system, which transmits the alarms to the fire department.
Go directly to the fire control system; an alarm panel is usually installed in the control room
Install a separate fire alarm control unit in the control room
