Weird issues with Modbus communication

Our plant’s power management system uses serial server and serial protocol software (specifically Hilscher’s Comm software) to transmit data to the DCS system. There is a motor protector on site; I use a serial communication tool to send messages to the terminals on the distribution cabinet, and I can retrieve all the desired data, with no differences observed. But there is no communication upon connecting to the circuit. I removed the cable from a nearby device that was working properly on that circuit and replaced it, but communication was still not possible. Does anyone know what the problem is? For settings, only the address, baud rate, and even parity can be configured.
You still need to check the stack register addresses in the master and slave stations; they need to correspond to each other
