I’m seeking advice from experts: is there any gas chromatography method that adjusts the feed ratio based on the main component content of the product, after conducting sampling tests? My process is as follows: the hourly feed rate of the first raw material increases from 10 kilograms to a maximum of 30 kilograms, while the feed rate of the second raw material remains constant at 200 kilograms per hour. With such feed rates, the product purity reaches 98%, but the catalyst plays a role in this process; if the catalyst loses its effectiveness, the reaction does not proceed completely, and the resulting product contains a large amount of the first raw material. Furthermore, the second raw material is fed and recovered continuously, while the first raw material is fed in amounts ranging from a small quantity up to 30 kilograms, with the amount increasing based on detection results. How can fully automated feeding and production be achieved without any human intervention, while still ensuring product quality?
All known reactors in polyethylene and polypropylene production plants are equipped with online chromatography analyzers. The composition of the materials is determined before catalyst injection, and this process is controlled by the online chromatography analyzer; it is also used for control during normal reaction processes. With a digital control system in place, manual intervention is generally not required, as the system uses the results from the online chromatography analysis to regulate the proportion of feed materials.
Isn’t sampling in the workshop still done manually?
An online chromatograph is not the same as an offline chromatograph used in laboratories; the analysis process, from sampling to the transmission of results to the control system, is entirely automated, and no manual sampling is required at all
