I’m a beginner when it comes to instruments; I would like to ask the experts – can Venturi flow meters be used in black water and gray water pipelines? How’s the internal wear and tear? Is it long-lasting? :handshake
1) In coal gasification, both black water and gray water are measured using Venturi flowmeters. Two points need to be noted when using them: a) A flushing pipeline must be added during design to prevent blockages; b) During maintenance, it is necessary to take it offline for cleaning; the interior of the venturi as well as the pressure measurement pipelines. 2) In our factory, there are no strict requirements regarding the accuracy of black water and gray water flow rates, and no problems have arisen after using them for over 10 years
Wedge-type ones are also used to take pressure readings with dual-flange differential pressure transmitters.

In earlier years, we used wedge-shaped elements; over time, these wedges would wear out or even fall off, resulting in no pressure difference and performance that was not as good as that of venturi devices. Later on, we switched to venturi devices. In fact, venturi devices also suffer from wear, but because their inner surfaces are smooth, the wear occurs much more slowly than with wedge-shaped elements, which is acceptable
