In petrochemical plants, especially refineries, it is very important to measure the liquid level in liquefied gas storage tanks. Liquefied gas is a flammable and explosive substance. Especially in summer, as the temperature rises, it undergoes vaporization, thereby **increasing the pressure inside the storage tank**. This poses potential safety hazards to production. Moreover, due to this characteristic of liquefied gas, it is difficult to accurately measure the level of the medium using ordinary level gauges. The company originally had two 400-cubic-meter liquefied gas spheres, and in the past it used magnetostrictive level gauges from the American company MTS. This level gauge measures based on the magnetostrictive principle, offering high measurement accuracy for liquefied gas. However, it has poor corrosion resistance, a relatively short service life, and a high price. The ELL-FI external level gauge produced by Xi’an Dinghua Electronics Co., Ltd. operates on a measurement principle that differs from that of all currently available types of level gauges. It utilizes an external measurement technology based on the principle of minute liquid vibrations to determine the liquid level within a container. The biggest advantage of this level gauge is that it enables measurement outside the container, without the need to make holes in the storage tank, thus truly achieving non-contact measurement. Therefore, this gauge fundamentally solves the problem of measuring the liquid level height in tanks containing flammable, explosive, highly corrosive, and other such media. The company recently installed two new 400-cubic-meter LPG spherical tanks. After conducting thorough investigations and research, it ultimately chose Xi’an Dinghua’s self-calibrating ELL-FI-AE external level gauge. So far, this level measurement product has withstood the tests of all four seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Its measurement performance has always been excellent, providing an ideal solution for the company’s liquefied gas storage tanks. Currently, both of the company’s existing liquefied gas storage tanks and the two new propylene tanks are equipped with external level gauges manufactured by Xi’an Dinghua.
