In China, flow meters are widely used in the petrochemical industry, primarily to accurately measure the flow rate of liquids or gases. This is very important for process control, energy measurement, and quality control. However, it is not common to use flow meters as the basis for trade handover, especially in commercial oil storage facilities. Firstly, the measurement results of flow meters are susceptible to various factors such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate; therefore, relying solely on the readings from the flow meter cannot accurately reflect the actual quantity of the product. Secondly, the inbound and outbound operations at commercial storage oil tanks involve large quantities of liquid products, and current flow meter technologies are not capable of providing accurate measurements for such large-scale liquid flows. Finally, errors may occur during the measurement by the flow meter, and relying on this alone as a basis for trade settlement could lead to commercial disputes. Overall, although flowmeters are widely used in the petrochemical industry, there are still some difficulties and challenges in using them as a basis for trade settlement. In China, calculations and handovers are more often carried out using methods such as volume and mass. .

Trade should use pulse signals or communication methods, not current signals, as current signals result in too large errors.
