Is a temperature rise of 4 degrees before and after electric capture normal? Where does the heat come from?
Could it be that the temperature gauge ahead is giving inaccurate readings?
The issue with the measuring instrument should be ruled out first.
1. Check the instrument to confirm that it is functioning properly. 2. Check whether the steam valve is closed and if there is any internal leakage. 3. Check whether there is excessive accumulation of debris in the coal gas pipeline between the primary cooler and the electrostatic precipitator.
Thank you to those who replied above; in summary: Using the same on-site gauge for measurement, along with a temperature gun as a supplementary tool, presents no issues. Steam leakage has been ruled out by installing blind flanges to investigate the situation. As for accumulation in the gas pipeline, it wasn’t possible to inspect it directly, but the external temperatures measured with a temperature gun were roughly the same.
There is tar in front of the electrostatic precipitator, which causes the temperature reading to be low and makes the temperature probe even less accurate.
The temperature rise before and after electrostatic capture generally does not exceed 0.5 degrees.
There may be a temperature increase in the gas before and after electrostatic capture; the energy comes from the electrical power in the electric field. However, a temperature rise of 4°C is abnormal. This could be due to a leak in the heating coil at the bottom of the equipment or errors in the instrument readings. Additionally, differences in exposure to sunlight at the inlet and outlet pipes can also lead to such temperature differences.
