On the list of enterprises recognized for their energy efficiency, in the synthetic ammonia industry, the top three companies that use bituminous coal (including lignite) as raw material are Henan Xinlianxin Industrial Chemical Group Co., Ltd. (the leader), Jiangsu Huachang Chemical Co., Ltd., and Shandong Hualu Hengsheng Chemical Co., Ltd ; The top two companies in the methanol industry (coal-based methanol) are Anhui Huayi Chemical Co., Ltd. and Shandong Hualu Hengsheng Chemical Co., Ltd.; both use the multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology for their coal gasification processes, and they have been listed among the top companies for many consecutive years. The multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology is stable, mature, and reliable, with low overall energy consumption; its advantages in the industries of ammonia synthesis, hydrogen production, and coal-to-methanol production have been recognized by the industry and relevant associations. As the key unit in the coal chemical industry chain, gasification is characterized by high investment costs, strict requirements for reliability, and a significant impact on the economic efficiency of the entire industry chain. After more than 30 years of development, China’s coal gasification technology has made significant progress. Having gone through stages of introduction, digestion, absorption, and independent innovation, its overall technical level has reached international advanced standards, with some technologies being at the world’s leading level. There are various types of gasification technologies, each with its own characteristics. The selection of gasification technology should follow the following principles: sustainability and environmental protection. The chosen gasification technology must meet environmental requirements, be environmentally friendly, and cause no pollution to the environment. Principle of economic efficiency: Achieving maximum profit is the goal of enterprises, and the gasification technology selected must take into account operating costs in terms of raw material unit price, consumption, and overall energy consumption. At the same time, factors such as equipment investment and patent fees must be taken into consideration; the investment should be minimized to keep the overall cost low. Applicable principle: There is no universal gasification technology; only the most suitable one exists. Different gasification technologies have varying requirements for raw materials, and the composition of the gas produced also differs. Therefore, when selecting gasification technology, factors such as the downstream requirements regarding syngas composition and water-gas ratio, the compatibility between design pressure and the final product, and the matching between gasification capacity and production scale should be taken into consideration. Principle of maturity, stability, and safety: Coal gasification technology is the cornerstone of coal chemical industry; it not only needs to have advanced performance metrics but also must be mature, reliable, and safe, in order to meet the requirements of refining units for long-term operation at full capacity. After more than 20 years of technical research, continuous improvement, and practical application, multi-nozzle gasification furnaces have given rise to various series of models. Years of industrial operation and technical optimization have demonstrated that multi-nozzle gasification technology offers advantages in terms of safety, stability, and reliability. To date, 62 technology licensing agreements have been signed, resulting in a total of 183 units of such furnaces; 91 of these furnaces are currently in operation as part of 33 projects. The specifications of the 183 gasifiers that have been transferred so far are shown in the table below.
