Meeting Held for the 300,000-ton/year coal-based ethylene glycol project in Shaanxi Author/Source: Date: 2017-11-23 Clicks: 1 On November 21, a meeting regarding the process design for the unit that produces ethylene glycol using syngas via medium-high pressure carbonylation process, with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year, was held in Shanghai by Shaanxi Huabin Zhengkai New Energy Co., Ltd. Shaanxi Huabin Zhengkai New Energy Co., Ltd.’s 300,000 tons per year ethylene glycol production project was officially registered on October 31, 2017, as documented in Document No. Xian Fa Gai (2017) 457. The investment scale for this project is approximately 2 billion yuan. It utilizes the medium-high pressure carbonylation process developed by Shanghai Wu Zheng Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., for the production of ethylene glycol, with an effort to keep the construction period within 24 months. On June 27, 2017, Shaanxi Huabin Zhengkai New Energy Co., Ltd. was officially established as a joint venture of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Energy Co., Ltd., Shanghai Wu Zheng Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., and Kaifeng Dongjing Energy Technology Co., Ltd. In early 2017, Shaanxi Coal Chemical Energy Co., Ltd., Shanghai Wu Zheng Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., and Kaifeng Dongjing Energy Technology Co., Ltd. signed a Framework Agreement for the Establishment of Shaanxi Huabin Zhengkai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., based on the principles of friendly consultation and mutual benefit. The aim was to make full use of the advantageous resources of each company by joining forces in order to upgrade Shaanxi Coal Chemical Energy Co., Ltd.’s 600,000 tons per year methanol production facility through technological improvements, transforming it into a facility capable of producing 300,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol and 300,000 tons per year of methanol.
