What is the process and which section is used for methanol distillation? What are the components involved? If it’s just water and methanol, normal pressure is sufficient. But if there are butane, methanol, and other compounds present, increasing the pressure can raise the concentration of methanol in the azeotrope; accordingly, both the top and bottom temperatures of the tower increase as well
Increasing pressure is unfavorable for separation, as it reduces the heat transfer temperature difference of the heating medium at the bottom of the tower.
