On April 18, the 500,000-ton green methanol project integrating wind power generation with chemical production developed by Goldwind Science & Technology in Xingan League began construction in Xingan League, Inner Mongolia, marking the official start of the project’s construction phase. It is reported that in November 2023, Goldwind Science & Technology signed a long-term procurement agreement for green methanol with the global shipping giant A.P. Moller-Maersk, covering an annual production volume of 500,000 tons. This agreement is intended to support the low-carbon operation of Maersk’s first 12 large methanol-powered ships, with production expected to begin in 2026. This agreement is the first large-scale green methanol procurement agreement in the global shipping industry, and its validity will extend beyond 2030. The methanol production volume specified in the agreement includes green biomass methanol and electrolytically produced methanol; it will be manufactured as part of Goldwind Science & Technology’s project in Xing’an League to produce 500,000 tons of green methanol, thereby creating a \"green loop\" that enables the use of green electricity to produce green fuel and support the development of green shipping. The project covers an area of over 1,800 mu; once fully operational, it will be capable of producing 500,000 tons of green methanol per year. It will become a modern green methanol production facility that boasts advanced technology, sophisticated equipment, and high efficiency.
