HyOrc, a developer of advanced fuel technologies, has signed a binding project development and technology agreement with the Bulgarian OnEnergy group to collaborate on building a green methanol plant in Bulgaria capable of processing around 50,000 tons per year of waste-derived fuel (RDF). This project aims to use thermochemical conversion techniques to convert RDF into methanol, with an expected daily production capacity of 38 to 42 tons. It is a concrete initiative under the EU’s efforts to promote the utilization of waste as energy, as well as to advance goals related to decarbonization and a circular economy. HyOrc will act as a technical partner, responsible for the technical aspects of the project, to assist in advancing it through channels such as the European Union Innovation Fund. HyOrc is a developer of advanced waste-to-fuel and external combustion technologies, and has signed a binding project development and technology agreement with Bulgaria’s OnEnergy Group to build a methanol plant from waste. Under the agreement, HyOrc has been designated as the technical partner for the third phase of this project, which focuses on converting waste-derived fuel (RDF) into green methanol through thermochemical processes. The project is designed to process approximately 50,000 tons of RDF per year, operating for about 330 days; the daily processing capacity is around 150 to 155 tons. The expected daily methanol production is between 38 and 42 tons, with the actual amount depending on the final engineering design. The facility is part of a broader waste-to-energy platform, in line with the EU’s priorities regarding decarbonization, the circular economy, and reducing landfill use. As part of the collaboration, HyOrc will take the lead in preparing the technical components needed to support the project’s progress along the established European industrial development pathway, including the EU Innovation Fund. The agreement relates to an advanced waste-to-energy development platform in Bulgaria.
