On the morning of March 11, the project with a total investment of 10 billion yuan for the gasification upgrade and industrial structure adjustment in the Bagong Park area of Jincheng, Shanxi, officially started. Zhang Zhichuan, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, attended the commencement ceremony and announced the official start of the project, while Cheng Lin, a member of the Municipal Party Committee’s leadership team, delivered a speech. It is understood that the gasification upgrade and industrial structure adjustment project in the Bagong Industrial Park employs advanced and mature pressurized coal gasification technology to replace the 62 existing atmospheric-pressure fixed-bed batch gasifiers in the park. Ultra-low emission boiler units are being installed in place of the 18 boilers with a capacity of less than 75 tons each. These new systems will supply industrial gases such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and steam to the coal chemical enterprises in the park, enabling the production of high-value-added products like caprolactam and melamine. This approach facilitates a transition from traditional coal chemical manufacturing to high-end, sophisticated chemical production, and holds significant strategic value as a model for driving such transformation in the industry. It is reported that the gasification upgrade and industrial structure adjustment project in the Bagong Park area is mainly divided into three parts: the gasification upgrade project, for which Orchid and Tianze Group jointly establish a joint-stock company to build a gasification facility; two pressurized coal gasification units are used to produce 800,000 tons of purified gas equivalent to synthetic ammonia, to meet the needs of the downstream products manufactured by these two companies. Once completed, pollution emissions can be reduced by 30%, and the overall cost per ton of synthetic ammonia can be lowered by 400 yuan. Under the industrial structure adjustment project of Lanhua Group, the company plans to use 400,000 tons of purified gas equivalent to synthetic ammonia to upgrade its facilities and phase out the existing urea production units. Along with the upgrading of the coal gasification process, new facilities will be built to produce 280,000 tons per year of caprolactam, a product with high added value, thereby facilitating the upgrading and transformation of Lanhua’s coal chemical industry. Once completed, the Lanhua Bagong Industrial Park will be able to produce 420,000 tons per year of caprolactam, 670,000 tons per year of sulfuric acid, 115,000 tons per year of **, 150,000 tons per year of compound fertilizers, and 300,000 tons per year of nano-calcium carbonate. Tianze Company plans to use 400,000 tons of purified synthetic ammonia gas to upgrade its internal synthetic ammonia plants, and to expand production of high-value chemical products derived from urea, such as 100,000 tons of melamine, foam materials, and melamine resins. Once all 3 projects are completed, Jincheng’s coal chemical industry will completely transform from its previous scattered and small-scale state and rank among the forefront of China’s coal chemical industry.
