From April 22 to 24, the meeting related to the process package for Yushen Energy’s 500,000 tons per year coal-based ethanol production project was successfully held in Dalian. The organizations that attended the meeting included Yushen Energy Chemical Co., Ltd., Yanchang Zhongke (Dalian) Energy Technology Co., Ltd., the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as various engineering companies. The meeting was chaired by Wu Youbin, the deputy general manager of Yushen Energy Company, the project owner. The meeting began with Yanchang Zhongke, the process package supplier, providing an introduction to the preparation of the initial version of the process package for the ethanol plant, and offering a detailed explanation of the key points. Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. provided a report on the receipt of the process package documents. Addressing the prominent issues related to the process package in the basic design, it offered a detailed analysis and explanation, using quantitative concepts, regarding the understanding and comprehension of these documents from the perspectives of the process system, equipment design, thermal engineering, and instrument control. It also put forward constructive suggestions for areas within the process package that require optimization. During the meeting, all parties conducted in-depth discussions and research on key aspects such as the selection of equipment in the process package, heat exchange networks, steam system balancing, flare operation conditions, production procedures, as well as the manufacturing and transportation of critical equipment. The designs for the carbonylation reactor, hydrogenation reactor, and shell-and-tube heat exchangers were finalized, and timelines were established for further improvements to the process package. The owner gave high praise to the progress of work at this stage, hoping that all parties will cooperate actively and wholeheartedly to bring this phase of work to a successful conclusion. The Yushen 500,000 tons per year coal-based ethanol project faces tight deadlines and heavy responsibilities; the project team will break away from conventional thinking, pursue innovation, and draw fully on the experience gained from the 100,000 tons per year ethanol project to ensure that the facility operates safely, stably, continuously, at full capacity, and with optimal performance!
