Zhongtai Coal Coking, Henan Energy Xinjiang Company: Installation of the flare for the 200,000 tons/year methanol production project from coke oven gas completed. Author/Source: China Coal Network. Date: June 4, 2019. Views: 19. On May 9, the main structure of the flare for Henan Energy Xinjiang Company’s 200,000 tons/year methanol production project from coke oven gas was installed, and it passed the inspection by professional engineers from the project owner, supervision agency, general contractor, and subcontractors. According to the person in charge of on-site installation, the torch is 50 meters tall and weighs 35 tons in total. It is primarily used to handle large amounts of flammable, toxic, and corrosive gases that are emitted in the event of accidents in various devices or during normal production. By using open flame combustion, it is possible to burn these gaseous pollutants. Gases that can be treated through torch combustion include hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, organic sulfur compounds, hydrocarbons, and other such gases. It is understood that Zhongtai Coal Coking is the first coal chemical enterprise in Baicheng County, Aksu Region, Xinjiang, to use coke oven gas to produce methanol. The 200,000 tons per year methanol production project using coke oven gas is a supporting facility for the 1.3 million tons per year coking project and the 600,000 tons per year coking project. By converting the excess coke oven gas generated during coking into methanol, this approach transforms waste into a valuable resource and turns potential hazards into benefits. It meets the industry standards for the coking sector, reduces the energy consumption of enterprises, lowers pollutant emissions, and helps protect the environment. The completion of the torch installation will play an important role in the commissioning of the 2A coke oven in the 1.3 million tons per year coking project on May 31.
