Revision of the national standard for industrial glacial acetic acid / Author/Source: Sinochem New Network Date: 2020-07-08 Clicks: 3 Recently, the **Standardization Committee officially issued the GB/T1628-2020 Standard for Industrial Glacial Acetic Acid**, revised under the leadership of the SOP Group; this standard will come into effect on February 1, 2021. This revision removes the requirements for product grading from the original standards, classifying products into two models: I and II; it adds a parameter for propionic acid content along with the corresponding testing method; and it modifies the testing methods for some other parameters. Through research, discussions, and experimental verification over the past two years, various manufacturing enterprises, user units, quality inspection institutes, and expert committees have determined that the technical specifications of the new standard are advanced, and its analysis methods are accurate and feasible. In 2008, the Thorpe Group became the leading drafter in formulating and revising the **standard for industrial glacial acetic acid, making positive contributions to the advancement of glacial acetic acid production technologies and the healthy development of the industry. After 10 years of development, the quality of glacial acetic acid products in our country has improved significantly, and the current standards can no longer meet the needs of the acetic acid and its derivative downstream industries. In 2018, the Sop Group applied again to revise this standard, receiving support from the **Standard Committee and peer companies. The new national standards will better align with the development trends of the glacial acetic acid industry in our country, promote progress in this industry for industrial use, enhance quality management during the product production process, and meet the needs of downstream manufacturers.
