Yulin Coal Chemical Acetic Acid production capacity of Yanchang Petroleum has been increased to 400,000 tons per year, with output reaching a new high in August! Author/Source: Yaha Coal Chemical Industry Date: 2020-09-07 Clicks: 65 Recently, the output of acetic acid produced by Yulin Coal Chemical Company of Yan’an Petroleum reached a record high, with a monthly production volume of 37,700 tons; this indicates that the expansion and upgrading of the acetic acid production facility have achieved the desired results. The company’s 200,000 tons per year acetic acid plant is the first coal chemical project invested in and built by Yanchang Petroleum Group. It came online in April 2011, and its production capacity was increased to 300,000 tons per year in 2014. To further reduce consumption and increase production capacity, the company carried out additional technical upgrades to raise its capacity to 400,000 tons per year. These upgrades included the addition of pre-separation towers, propionic acid purification units, intermediate storage tanks, as well as the replacement of key pumps and machinery. Since the technical upgrades were completed and the plant was put into trial operation, through patient and meticulous repeated adjustments of the process parameters, the acetic acid plant was successfully brought to full capacity on August 3. To date, the acetic acid production plant has been operating smoothly, with a 100% product qualification rate; all parameters meet the technical requirements. The key innovations and breakthroughs in this technological upgrade for acetic acid include, first, the improvement in the reaction efficiency of the production processes as well as the quality of the acetic acid products. By altering the structural form of the main catalyst in the acetic acid production process and adding lithium salts or lithium iodide/lithium acetate to the reaction vessel during the synthesis step, the stability of the catalytic system was further improved, which in turn helped to enhance the quality of the product. Secondly, the unreacted raw materials are recycled, effectively reducing production costs. By adding a pre-separation tower to the acetic acid production process, it is possible to wash and recover effective components such as the catalyst rhodium complex, lithium salts, lithium iodide, lithium acetate, and hydriodic acid. Acetic acid is primarily used in the synthesis of vinyl acetate, acetate fiber, acetic anhydride, acetates, metal acetates, and halogenated acetic acids. It is an important raw material for pharmaceuticals, dyes, pesticides, and other organic syntheses. Furthermore, it has wide applications in areas such as photographic drug manufacturing, cellulose acetate, plant dyeing and printing, and the rubber industry. The company’s expansion and renovation project for acetic acid production has been successful, with the new facilities operating stably. This has led to an increase in output, enhancing the company’s profitability while also enabling it to capture a larger market share, thus helping the company move forward as a first-class, innovative energy and chemical enterprise. On the other hand, it laid a solid foundation for the group company to make a precise strategic layout in the coal chemical industry in northern Shaanxi, thereby promoting its further development.
