On September 15, building on the partial achievements already made in two research and development projects with the Polyolefins Joint Laboratory of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the product research and development center organized a meeting to further accelerate the transformation of the scientific and technological results of these collaborative projects. The meeting was chaired jointly by Du Jie, the deputy director of the laboratory, and Professor Wang Genlin; participants included representatives from the production department, technology department, sales and service department, quality supervision and inspection center, polyolefins center, as well as the product research and development center. At the meeting, Professor Wang Genlin from Shanghai Jiao Tong University provided a detailed overview of the research and development processes as well as the achievements obtained regarding two specialized materials: sprayable polyethylene and non-excavation power cable protection pipes. Currently, both projects are progressing smoothly, with the pilot tests for each having been completed. Paintable polyethylene has undergone pilot-scale tests at the downstream stage, and pilot products of this paintable polyethylene were demonstrated on site; the painting quality of these products is excellent, laying a solid foundation for future industrial production. At the same time, the joint laboratory discussed the issues that participants might encounter in the research and development, production, testing, and promotion phases of the two R&D projects, and offered constructive suggestions. Du Jie, deputy director of the Product R&D Center, discussed the management of the joint laboratory as well as the plans for future work regarding the sprayable polyethylene pilot samples. First, laboratory researchers are required to further optimize the formulations of the additives for the two projects based on pilot tests, in order to achieve an effective balance between cost and efficiency ; Second, strictly adhere to the contract milestones, further standardize and improve the relevant technical documents, to ensure the completeness of the R&D project ; Third, focus on market research, promptly develop product plans, and accelerate the industrial production of the two projects ; Fourth, it is necessary to conduct risk identification for the industrial production of these two products in order to reduce the incidence of production accidents. Finally, the joint laboratory had in-depth discussions on the new R&D projects for 2021. At present, the company is in a critical period of \"addressing low oil prices and overcoming challenges.\" The holding of this R&D project meeting is of great significance for accelerating the industrial production of new products and achieving the company’s annual goals.
