With a total investment of 6.02 billion yuan, 9 large-scale chemical projects in Pingdingshan have commenced construction simultaneously! The 9 projects that are starting construction this time are all related to the nylon and fine chemical industries as well as related supporting projects. With a total investment of 6.02 billion yuan, they will be able to generate an annual output value of 10.6 billion yuan once operational. These projects will provide strong impetus for the development of the nylon industry in the entire city, and offer solid support for the creation of a China-based Nylon City. They mark a new phase in Henan Province and Pingdingshan City’s efforts to develop the nylon materials industry and build a China Nylon City with a value of 100 billion yuan. Project Introduction ★ Pingmei Shenma Group’s 400,000-ton-per-year coal-to-hydrogen-ammonia project: It is a supporting project for major initiatives in China’s Nylon City, such as the production of 1 million tons of caprolactam and 600,000 tons of adipic acid ； ★ The 100,000-ton adiponitrile project of Pingmei Shenma Group will break the long-standing foreign technological monopoly, achieve self-sufficiency in key raw materials, and ensure the security of China’s nylon 66 supply chain ； ★ Henan Weiyuan Biotechnology’s 8,500-ton pharmaceutical intermediate project: a project aimed at expanding and strengthening the nylon industry chain. ★ Henan Unit’s 5,000-ton phthalonitrile project: also part of the effort to expand and strengthen the nylon industry chain. ★ Xuwēi Chemical’s 30,000-ton antioxidant production project and the project for the deep processing of ammonium sulfide: both fall under the initiative to expand and strengthen the nylon industry chain. ★ Yuncheng Qilong New Materials’ 200,000-ton nylon 6 chips production project will provide raw materials necessary for the development of China’s Nylon City ； ★ Changming Technology’s 300,000-ton nylon industry chain by-product resource utilization project: can effectively address the issues related to the treatment of by-products and waste in the nylon new material industry chain ； ★ The 1.2 million-ton ammonium sulfate deep-processing project of Henan Anlijia can effectively address the issues related to the treatment of by-products and waste in the nylon new material industry chain ； ★ Expansion project of the Third Wastewater Treatment Plant in Pingdingshan: This will further improve the infrastructure in the industrial cluster area, enhance the investment environment, and increase its attractiveness to investors. Among them, Henan Shenma Nylon Chemical Co., Ltd. plans to invest 2,300,665,600 yuan to upgrade its existing hydrogen production facilities in the Pingdingshan Nylon New Materials Industry Cluster in Ye County, Pingdingshan City. Advanced multi-nozzle water-coal slurry gasification technology will be used in this project (2 units in operation and 1 as backup; the diameter of the gasifiers is 3,200 mm, with a design pressure of 6.5 MPa), replacing the fixed-bed gasification technology. The facility will be capable of producing 400,000 tons per year of liquid ammonia and 50,000 Nm3/h of hydrogen, with sulfuric acid generated as a by-product. The construction of this facility will meet the raw material needs of companies involved in nylon manufacturing and related technologies, enabling self-sufficiency in terms of raw materials. Vice Governor Wang Xinwei, Party Secretary Zhou Bin, Mayor Zhang Leiming, Vice Mayor Zhang Gong, and the vice chairman of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference attended the groundbreaking ceremony. Vice Governor Wang Xinwei issued the order to start construction, while Mayor Zhang Leiming delivered a speech. Project Review: On October 24, 2020, a meeting to advance the hydrogen-ammonia project for the nylon chemical industry at Henan Shenma Hydrogen Chemistry Co., Ltd. was successfully held at Saiding Engineering Company. More than 30 people attended the meeting, including representatives from Henan Shenma Hydrogen Chemistry Co., Ltd., Saiding Engineering Company, and the patent holders of various process technologies. To accelerate the project progress and clarify the design details, the owner, the design institute, and the patent holders of various process packages held group discussions. The participants discussed the key issues raised at the kick-off meeting and reached a consensus. The holding of this project advancement meeting marks the official transition of the project from the decision-making phase to the implementation phase. The hydrogen and ammonia project supporting the nylon chemical industry has a total ammonia production capacity of 600,000 tons per year. The project adopts three units of the world’s advanced 6.5MPa multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology (2 in operation and 1 as backup), along with isothermal shift, low-temperature methanol washing, liquid nitrogen washing, PSA, and low-pressure ammonia synthesis.
